CARRS TOURIST MINE OPEN DAYS 2017
Visit Nenthead Mines on one of our Open Days 2017 to discover the North Pennines’ fascinating lead mining heritage.
Explore this extensive scheduled ancient monument site, take an underground tour of Carrs Mine, see our displays of minerals, mining equipment and historic photographs. Then round your visit off with tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
We open the site from 10:30 to 17:00 on Open Days. Mine trips normally start at 10:45, 12:15, 13:45, and 15:15 and last for about 90 minutes; we ask you to arrive about 15 minutes before your start time.
Places on our underground tours are limited to ten people on each trip, so we recommend that you call 07519836019 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place. We will need to know your name and the number of people in your party. You can just turn up on the day, but we cannot guarantee that you will get on the underground trip of your choice.
We’ll be open on the following days in 2017:
- Sunday 16th April
- Monday 1st May
- Sunday 28th May
- Sunday 18th June
- Sunday 23rd July
- Sunday 6th August

- Sunday 10th September (We’re opening as part of England’s largest festival of history and culture – Heritage Open Days)

We ask for a donation of £5 per person. All your donations go towards the conservation of the Nenthead Mines site. We are an All-Volunteer operation.
The Society can also arrange custom group visits to Carrs Tourist Mine throughout the year. A group minimum of eight people is needed to confirm a booking, subject to a volunteer guide being available. Send us an email admin(at)nentheadmines.com or phone 07519836019 before the day of your proposed visit.
