How to Join the Society – we need your help!

The Nenthead Mines Conservation Society owns Nenthead Mines and Brownley Hill mine entrance.  Most of the land is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) to protect the buildings and the landscape, and part of the site is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) to protect the geology of the valley.

HOW DOES THE SOCIETY OPERATE?

We are a voluntary charitable incorporated organisation ( number 1166281) that raises money to maintain the site by providing Open Days and offering site visits to Groups. A copy of the Governing document is here: NMCS Governing Document.

We have set up Working Groups that concentrate on the practical details of managing the Charity.

If you want to know more, why not visit us on an Open Day?  We will be happy to talk about the Society and you can meet some of our members. We also organise Working Days on site when members carry out maintenance, repairs and projects. Phone us to arrange a visit  if you want to see what we do the day. 07494 497868.
