Bunkhouse

Information for guests

The Assay House Bunkhouse at Nenthead Mines has 2 bunk rooms; 8 beds are available at weekends and 12 beds on weeknights..  You need to bring your own pillows and bedding including a sheet.

The building has central heating, on demand hot water, 2 toilets and 2 showers, kitchen with cooker, toaster, microwave, kettles, pans, crockery etc.

There is ample parking, the key to the gates is on the key rack in the kitchen.

The bunkhouse is available to all bona fide outdoor groups at £10 per person per night, payment is non refundable and is due at the time of booking.

Exclusive use of the whole bunkhouse is available, subject to availability at £120 per night.

The cost of the electricity, gas and guest WiFi is included in the price.

Bunkhouse Rules

On leaving, guests are expected to leave the bunkhouse, drying room and changing areas clean and tidy.  You must empty all the bins and take all of your rubbish home as there is no rubbish collection from the Assay House.

Please empty the fridges, make sure they are clean and leave them switched on.

Spare bin liners, cleaning materials, tea towels and toilet rolls are in the cupboard under the kitchen sink. There are brushes etc in the boiler cupboard next to the toilets.

Recycling facilities for glass, tins, hard plastic and cardboard are available in the village.

There is a changing area and drying room in a separate building.  This is down the stone steps and the first door on the left, in the long building opposite the Assay House.  The key is on the key rack in the kitchen.  Wet gear needs to be drained using the spin dryer before hanging in the drying room.

Information for NMCS members

As above, but please note:-

Members pay £10 per person per night, unless working on the site or involved in an Open Day.

Members who are day visitors are expected to make a donation of at least £2 towards the cost of their use of the facilities, unless they are working on the site or involved in an Open Day.

CARRSHIELD CAMPING BARN is just over the hill from Nenthead. This is not part of Nenthead Mines but you will get a warm welcome!
