The Assay Office Bunkhouse at the Smelting Mill can sleep up to twelve people in two 6 bunk bedrooms. The Bunkhouse has central heating, kitchen, 2 toilets and 2 showers.

NMCS provide pillows and mattresses – guests must provide pillowcases, bedding and towels.

A Changing and Drying room is available to all visitors in the adjacent Barracks Building.

The bunkhouse is available to BCA insured members at a cost of £10.00 per night per person.   NMCS members volunteering on Society Projects are not charged for overnight stays.

Day visitors are expected to make a donation to cover their usage of the facilities. NMCS members using the building for Society Open days or Official Work days are not expected to make a donation.

Overnight Guests must leave the Bunkhouse by 1030hrs on departure day.

The Bunkhouse is not available for overnight stays on the night before Nenthead Mines Open days, except for NMCS members involved in the Open Day.

A n alternative Bunkhouse is at the nearby Barneycraig Mine, at Carrshield. This building is owned and operated by a local Community Benefit Society – Allen Valley Enterprises Ltd. Carrshield camping barn.
